Dr. Mejia Baltodano was born, and he lives in Managua. He is a Geneticist graduated from University of Guadalajara, UDG, in1997. He is a general practitioner graduated from National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN León and UNAN Managua, 1985) and Pediatrician graduated from UNAN Managua (1990).
His professional experience includes being Member of the WHO Expert Group on Rare Diseases (CGN4RD), since January 2021. Principal investigator “Randomized double-blind comparative study of tolerance, safety and immunogenicity of the Flu-M vaccine, in volunteers from 18 to 60 years old” (February 1st, 2021 – December 20, 2021). Coordinator of the Genetics Department at the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (February 2013 to date). National Coordinator of the Nicaraguan Registry of Congenital Anomalies (RENIMAC, February 2013 to date). Director General of National Children´s Hospital “Manuel de Jesús Rivera”, (November 2006 – January 2013).
He has teaching experience as Professor of Pediatrics and Genetics, of the School of Medicine, UNAN-Managua since 2013 to date and, Professor of Embryology and Genetics, at the Universidad Americana (UAM) since 1998 – to December 2020).
Dr. Mejía has also published tens of scientific papers, articles, and posters, and has participated in many Professional Congresses and Symposia as speaker.
